Grovelands Park Centenary
On the weekend of 18th and 19th May the Friends of Grovelands Park held an event to celebrate the Centenary of the park and the Enfield Battalion were invited to take part.
We used the Battalion gazebo and borrowed the trailer from Felden Lodge to set up display stands of photographs of recent events and general information about the Battalion and we also hired an inflatable bungee run as an attraction.
The event itself was well organised with three performance stages, a funfair, vintage cars  and sports and craft activities for people to enjoy.
The weather was dry on both days although it was overcast on the Saturday with a chilly breeze, but on the Sunday the sun shone for most of the day.
We received quite a few enquiries over the weekend and were able to give people details of their nearest Company; we also had some Old Boys visiting the stand, taking an interest in the current events and sharing their memories of when they were a boy.
It proved to be a great opportunity for publicity and recruiting whilst also being a popular attraction.
Thanks to those staff who set up on the Friday evening beforehand, those who helped over the weekend and the boys from the 10th Enfield who helped with the bungee run.

Battalion Trip To Woburn Safari Park
On Saturday 22nd September the Anchor Boys and Junior Sections of Enfield Battalion went on a day out to Woburn Safari Park.  We travelled in four minibuses and took 38 boys and 19 staff.

On arrival at the park we drove through the animal enclosures including rhinoceros, buffalo, tigers, lions, giraffes, wolves, bears and the highlight of the tour, the monkeys.

While the other animals were content to be observed as we drove by, the monkeys wanted to have fun by climbing on to our minibuses and going for a ride, much to the amusement of the boys inside.

Having left the animals we parked and had lunch by the minibuses and then went of to explore the rest of the park.

Starting with the pedal boats we moved on to the train ride then the astra slide, the land of lemurs, penguin world, small animals enclosure and then feeding time for the squirell monkeys.

After a walk through the wallabies and koalas there was just time for the gift shop before boarding the minibuses.

On the way out we passed the elephant enclosure and then went for another drive through the big animals and this time the tigers were roaming around having been asleep earlier but the monkeys were not so mischeivous as before.

We then left the park passing through the Woburn Abbey estate and returned home, a great day out with a rare day of good weather enjoyed by all.
