The event is used by many local business, organisations, charities, Churches etc. to promote their work and put on things to do for people of all ages.

The BB/GB stand had a number of display stands to show some of the activities that we do, and there were a number of members of staff on hand to speak to people about the organisations. There was also an inflatable bungee run as part of the stand which was free for people to have a go on. On Saturday there was a tug of war competition in the main arena organised by YOU (Youth Organisations in Uniform), which was entered by teams from the BB, Scouts and Volunteer Police Cadets. A number of other displays were put on in the main arena throughout the weekend.

Saturday was a very busy day in terms of the number of people as the weather was very good. Unfortunately Sunday was quite a wet day but there were still a good number of people despite the conditions. A large number of people showed an interest in the BB and GB and hopefully the event will result in some new members for Companies across Enfield.

Summer Camp Report - 3rd & 10th Enfield Companies
From 23rd to 30th July, the 10th and 3rd Enfield once again joined together for our summer camp, which took place in Jersey at the Boys' Brigade Headquarters in the village of St John. In total there were 12 boys and 8 staff on the camp.

Throughout the week the boys got to take part in a number of off site activities including blo-karting (a go-kart style vehicle powered by a sail), coasteering, ringo rides, an around the town challenge in St Helier (the capital of Jersey), adventure golf, swimming at Aquasplash, go-karting, beach olympics and more. There was also time for some trips to various beaches around the island as well as shopping in St Helier.

On site activities included a quiz, devotions led by Sammy Bosworth (Youth Worker at Winchmore Hill Baptist Church, 10th Enfield HQ), football and other sports. Our now traditional talent show took place on the final evening, with items including a face painting contest, dancing, tricks, a Rolo eating contest, a visit from Mavis and Binny on their summer holidays and much more. The show ended with a singalong which started off with two people but ended with almost the whole camp joining in!

Another traditional part of the camp is the inter tent competition, where the tents compete in various areas such as the tent inspection, quiz, beach olympics, around the town challenge (and more) and an overall winner is decided. Bragging rights this year went to tent 1, which consisted of Owen (3rd Enfield), Charlie, James and Ben (10th Enfield).

Overall the camp was very successful and enjoyable, with loads of great activities and lots of wonderful weather as well!

Summer Camp Report - 11th, 12th, 16th Enfield & 1st Hoddesdon Companies
Camp this year was held at Bearsted Green, near Maidstone , a site which is one of the closest we have used, only 60 miles from home. The camp is a Boys’ Brigade site run by the North West Kent Battalion. It has a main building containing a kitchen, male and female toilets (with showers) and a store room where all the forms, tables and other equipment is stored, at the rear are large water tight containers where all the canvas is kept. The only problem with the site was the close proximity of the M20 and the Euro Star Track, giving off a 24 hour noise, but after the first day most of us got used to it. Weather was good to us with a couple of hot days and others with cloud and sunny intervals, but no rain. Activities during the week included; Church Parade, visit to two different swimming pools (one with diving boards), cinema (choice of Harry Potter or Transformers), tobogganing, snow tube, Chessington Theme Park , ice skating, golf, quiz, filming and many other activities on-site.

Boys get involved in Geocaching Treasure Hide Challenge . . .
Boys and leaders from the 10th Enfield Company, in the Junior section went out to Grovelands Park on Monday 11th July to hide 6 Geocache boxes in the park. The boys had to hide Geocaching boxes as part of a nationwide Geocaching Treasure Hunt. Using a GPS device they then had to  record the longitude and latitude of each box as well as come up with a clue (being as creative as possible!). This information has then been passed on to be used by Magellan (the organiser of the Treasure Hide Challenge) for  their Geocaching Treasure Hunt over the summer. BB Companies all over the UK are also getting involved by hiding the Geocaching boxes in local woods with thousands being hidden! The boys really enjoyed getting out and about and learning something about Geocaching, including introducing them to how to use a GPS device. By taking part the Company has the chance of winning some fantastic prizes which include GPS Navigation and Satellite Navigation devices.

Battalion Junior Section Camp
The Junior Section weekend camp was held at the Thurso Centre at Felden Lodge from 24th to 26th June.
There were 26 boys from five companies, 2nd, 3rd, 10th, 16th and 18th Enfield.
On the Friday evening boys joined in with table games as they arrived and once they were all there they enjoyed a supper of hot dog and chips and then saw a DVD of Night at the Museum 2 before going to bed and settling down to sleep (eventually).
On Saturday morning the boys went to the Aquasplash fun pool in Hemel Hempstead where they had great fun on the various flumes and rapids rides. After lunch they were taken by minibus to Phasels Wood activity centre where some climbed the revolving wall while others shot air rifles and then some climbed a solid wall while others climbed up stacks of crates. Back at Felden there were some challenge type games involving water to varying degrees and as the weather had improved greatly this cooled the boys down, but just to make sure, once the games had been cleared the boys engaged in a full scale water fight. After a barbecue tea the boys dried off and changed for the evening activity which was a quiz.
On Sunday morning it was back to Phasels Wood where everyone enjoyed the cresta run, then some boys went on the zip wire while others tried archery. This gave the boys an appetite so on their return to Felden they enjoyed a full Sunday dinner after which there was just time for a group photograph before boys and staff went their various ways home.
All in all a great weekend with great weather which the boys enjoyed. Thanks to all the staff involved with the weekend but especially to Chris Norman for all the cooking and Philip Norman for organizing the weekend and booking the activities.
